Facilitating workshops in blended learning contexts (TWPLST)

This session aligns with the Teach dimension of the TeachWell Framework.

This session aims to boost facilitation skills within flipped and blended learning environments that depend on active and relational learning.

We will begin by addressing the logistics of delivering interactive workshops on a considerable scale. The example will center around the Business School’s first-year core courses. In BUSINESS 111, we might have 1,600 students in the first semester, segmented into 16 streams then further formed into 16 teams of 6. Each stream convenes for a two-hour weekly workshop with each stream facilitated by two academics.

While we’ll touch on the challenges posed by such issues of scale, the essence of the session will focus primarily on practical activities to develop facilitation skills with the hope that the workshop is relevant to anyone involved in blended and active learning, regardless of the scale of operation.
