Spotlight on signature pedagogical practices

19 January 2023

A key focus for the development of the TeachWell site has been to create guidance for colleagues to help recognise how the University’s signature pedagogical practices can be brought to life.

What are signature pedagogical practices?

A key focus of the Curriculum Framework Transformation Programme (CFT) is for faculties to consider how their approaches to teaching, learning and assessment align with the strategic aims of Taumata Teitei.

In 2022, a Learning and Teaching Delivery Framework Working Group was tasked with developing an aspirational vision and making recommendations on learning and teaching delivery.

The group created a suite of pedagogical practices that reflect three educational ideas:

  1. Relational learning.
  2. Assessment for learning.
  3. Technology-enhanced learning.

Examples in practice

The Signature Pedagogical Practices section of the TeachWell site contains a fantastic collection of resources to spark ideas, help facilitate discussion within course and programme teams and provide examples of how the practices aligned with signature pedagogies can be designed and implemented.

The library of examples has been gathered from both within the university and elsewhere and will continue to grow as the Curriculum Framework Transformation project progresses.

If you have an example from your practice that you would like to contribute – particularly if it supports relational learning – please contact the team at Ranga Auaha Ako: raa@auckland.ac.nz
