The theme this year is Why Reading Matters to the Future of Learning. As we navigate a world of rapid information transfer and artificial intelligence, reading remains essential to our development of foundational learning skills like writing, comprehension, critical thinking, and the ability to solve complex problems. In higher education, we are witnessing a change in reading habits and skills, posing challenges for students, instructors, and institutions. Does reading matter to the future of learning?
Keynote speakers include Beth McMurtrie, a renowned senior writer at The Chronicle of Higher Education, who has extensively covered education technology and its impact on teaching, and Maryanne Wolf, a leading scholar on literacy and cognitive neuroscience, known for her work on the reading brain and its transformations in the digital age.
