Academic misconduct workshop
The Academic Quality Office invites staff to register for workshops on managing and reporting allegations of academic misconduct.
The Academic Quality Office are hosting workshops for staff interested in learning more about the University’s academic misconduct processes and how to handle academic integrity breach allegations.
Have you identified a group of students who have potentially colluded for an assignment? Do you suspect a student has impermissibly used gen-AI in their assignment?
Anyone can report suspected academic integrity breaches via the Academic Integrity Breach Report. But what information is needed in a report? What is an appropriate assignment penalty for say, alleged plagiarism? Who can I contact if I need assistance investigating an alleged academic integrity breach?
These questions will be covered in the workshop.
Workshop content
- Snapshot of academic misconduct reports in 2024
- Academic misconduct administrative processes and timelines
- Academic integrity breaches and penalties
- Allegations involving gen-AI
- Research integrity breach allegations
- Student impact and support
- Q&A

Notes
- The workshop will be substantially similar to that offered in Semester 1, 2025.
- AQO administratively processes student academic misconduct cases in coursework and tests. AQO is not involved in the determination and penalties of academic misconduct cases. Exam allegations are separately investigated and processed by Assessment Services.
- Workshops will not be recorded.

Please contact the Academic Quality Office at quality@auckland.ac.nz if you would like to organise a separate workshop/presentation for your team.
