Tapestry of Practice 2023: Assessment for Learning

Building a foundation for a lifetime of learning and work

Thank you to our presenters, keynote speakers, and participants for joining us at the Tapestry of Practice on 28 November 2023. This conference brought together colleagues from diverse disciplines to exchange innovative teaching practices and scholarly achievements, inspiring and challenging us as we explore new horizons in assessment within the era of generative AI.

Keynote speakers

Dr Hassan Khosravi

Dr Hassan KhosraviHassan is an Associate Professor of Data Science at The University of Queensland. In his research, he draws on theoretical insights driven from the learning sciences and exemplary techniques from the fields of human-centred AI to build technological solutions that enhance student learning and experience. Hassan’s research has attracted over $6 million in funding has been published in over 60 peer-reviewed papers. He is currently serving as a co-editor of the Journal of Learning Analytics.

Dr Paul Denny

Dr Paul DennyPaul is an Associate Professor in the School of Computer Science at the University of Auckland. His research interests include developing and evaluating tools for supporting collaborative learning, improving outcomes for novice programmers, and exploring the ways that students engage with online learning environments. His research has been recognised with 11 best paper awards, and his PeerWise project, a pioneering learner-sourcing platform, won the 2018 QS Reimagine Education Overall Award, placing first out of 1200 entries. He serves as Associate Editor for the ACM Transactions on Computing Education and guest editor for the International Journal of Artificial Intelligence in Education (IJAIED) special issue on the use of Large Language Models in education.
