Students in the Te Pare School of Architecture and Planning, Creative Arts and Industries will utilise technology to experience various construction sites virtually. Dr Charmaine ‘Ilaiū Talei describes how her team is transforming teaching through developing these truly engaging and immersive learning experiences.
This initiative supports two of the University’s three signature pedagogical practices: Utilising technologies that provide quality interactive blended learning opportunities, and creating real-world scenarios to enhance relationships between students and their place.
Sneak peek
This is an early look at the project where students will visit three digitally recreated construction sites – a heritage-listed building, a large scale recreational centre, and a small scale residential development.
The project is scheduled for completion in May 2024 and the technology will be offered to third-year architecture students in Semester Two of that year.
