Project requests
3–12 weeks (sometimes more) for larger course (re)design projects.
If you’re planning a full course (re)design, introducing a new programme, or tackling a strategic teaching challenge, our team can work with you on a structured design project.
Projects typically include:
- A full curriculum review or redesign
- Development of new learning outcomes and assessment strategies
- Canvas course development or reorganisation
- Strategic changes aligned with the curriculum and Signature Pedagogical Practices
The earlier you start, the more we can help—especially with programme-level or new course development.
How it works
For collaborating with us on projects, talk to your faculty’s Curriculum Development Manager (CDM) in the first instance. CDMs can help you scope your ideas, talk through timelines, and liaise with Ranga Auaha Ako. They work closely with the Associate Deans (Teaching and Learning) and are involved in most large-scale course and programme development across the University.

How long it will take
Design takes time, and it varies depending on the type and scope of the project. A full course redesign typically takes from 12 weeks onwards. Get in touch as early as you can.
Who you’ll work with
You’ll work with experienced learning designers and technologists who specialise in different aspects of teaching and learning enhancement. See the list of team members at Ranga Auaha Ako.
How we work
We don’t tell you how to teach—we work with you to refine ideas, clarify goals, and enhance student learning in practical, achievable ways.
That might mean co-planning sessions, reviewing activities or assessments, or exploring new tools together, in person or online.
It’s a true collaboration: you bring your subject expertise, and we bring design strategies, learning technologies, and a fresh perspective. Together we create inclusive, engaging learning experiences tailored to your students and context.
How to prepare for working with us
The more prepared you are, the smoother the collaboration.
Before we begin, it helps to have:
- A sense of your goals (what’s working, what isn’t)
- Course details or Canvas access (if applicable)
- Key deadlines (semester delivery, accreditation, etc.)
- Approval or support from your faculty (for larger projects)
What we’ll ask from you
We work collaboratively, which means you’ll be involved. Depending on the project, we may ask you to:
- Attend planning meetings or workshops
- Review and iterate on learning materials
- Trial new approaches or technologies
- Coordinate with your teaching team
We’ll provide support throughout but good learning design takes time and shared commitment.
