Teaching Well Emporium 2026: Hands-on help, human-first solutions

A treasure-trove of tools, tips and tailored support to set you up for Semester One.

Looking to elevate your teaching practice? Join us for a hands-on exploration of learning and teaching technologies. Whether you are curious about prompting generative AI tools, creating interactive course content, designing accessible course materials in Canvas, or leveraging tools for groupwork and peer review, there’s something for everyone. And new this year: discover the two-lane approach to designing assessment in an age of AI—a practical framework for balancing integrity and innovation.

Note: The Teaching Well Emporium complements a week of activities designed for teaching well, including the Teaching Well Symposium and Teaching Well: Foundations of Learning and Teaching. Come along to all three events.

Format

Guest speakers and members of the University’s Learning and Teaching Design Team will facilitate the structured in-person sessions. Drop-in sessions are held in person (laptops recommended).* Booths will be set up where you can choose your topic of interest. Feel free to visit various booths throughout the day as your schedule permits and raise any questions relating to technologies that you are currently using, or wish to try.

Gen-AI for beginners — Learning and Teaching Design Team

This beginner-friendly workshop introduces educators to generative AI, covering core concepts, how it works, why it matters in education, and key ethical issues such as bias and misinformation, with no prior experience required, complementing in the TeachWell Professional Learning Series.

Cadmus — Herk Kailis (Cadmus Co-CEO/Founder), Chris Renwick (Head of University Partnerships), and Jess Ashman (Head of Learning)

Cadmus is an online assessment platform designed around process driven assessment. It supports drafting, feedback, revision and reflection, offering a way to design written assessments that focus on learning rather than product. The session will offer opportunities and examples of Lane 1 and Lane 2 process-driven assessment design from peer institutions.

Feedback from participants will help us gauge the appetite for Cadmus as an addition to our suite of supported technologies for learning and teaching.
