Supervision: Supporting student mental health and wellbeing
The School of Graduate Studies facilitates workshops for research supervisors at Waipapa Taumata Rau, University of Auckland.
As supervisors, it’s our job to ensure that the candidates we support have the proper guidance and help when they need it.
We will discuss ideas to keep in mind:
- What we mean by mental health, including knowing the warning signs
- How you can help candidates, including how to check in when something is wrong
- Helping candidates to thrive, including the power of feedback and the importance of belonging
You will learn about tools and techniques to support candidates. Upon completion, you will receive a guide outlining the key topics and strategies.
