Supervision: Supporting candidates through examination

The School of Graduate Studies facilitates workshops for research supervisors at Waipapa Taumata Rau, University of Auckland.

Supervisor support is vital for candidates preparing for the oral examination and for providing guidance following the examination results. The focus is on the role and responsibilities of supervisors throughout the entire examination process. This session will demystify the examination process for your candidates.

You will hear from a guest panel of experienced supervisors and have your questions answered. Key topics include:

  • The pre-submission process, including nomination of examiners
  • Initial thesis submission, examination of thesis and examiner recommendations
  • Oral examination and outcomes
