FMHS Teaching and Learning Community sessions
The Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences’ Teaching and Learning Community welcomes all staff to their TLC sharing practice sessions.
A message from the organising committee
Your September 2025 leaders are Emma Batey, Philippa Keast and Sarah Bull.
The TLC aims to foster a collaborative space—physical and digital—for teachers to explore teaching problems and possibilities, exchange ideas about all aspects of learning and teaching so we can all learn from the experiences of each other and create new knowledge and practice in the faculty—all in a friendly and supportive environment.
We aim to meet twice a month. Topics of discussion will be determined by members and designed specifically to meet members’ needs.

Monday 22 September, 12–1pm
An appreciative lens in challenging times
Room 503-024, Grafton Campus (map).
Dr Johanne Egan
Jo is an Emergency Medicine doctor and clinical educator, with a particular interest in appreciative modes of inquiry, wellbeing and thriving.
There is no doubt we are living in challenging times, both in healthcare and in academia, with the growing gap between need and resources in an uncertain world. Much of this is out of our control. During this session, we will weave in positive psychology, compassion research and neurobiology to think about some of the tools we do have available to us to get through these tough times together, reconnect to meaning and perhaps even find moments of joy.
Please do join us for this interactive session if you are able. This session will not be available on Zoom.
