Creative Pedagogies Network
Opportunities to connect and explore intersections between creative and teaching practices within the Faculty of Arts and Education, and across the university.
The Creative Pedagogies Network is a project funded through the University’s Scholarship of Teaching and Learning Grant. It seeks to connect academic staff within the Faculty of Arts and Education to collaboratively explore and articulate diverse understandings of creative pedagogies, both in theory and in practice. Through public presentations, discussions, and social gatherings, the network aims to build relationships among colleagues from various arts disciplines, including dance, music, creative writing, visual arts, ngā toi Māori, arts of Moana Oceania, drama, screen arts, integrated arts, art education, craft, and relevant interdisciplinary areas across the wider university.
The network embraces a broad and inclusive definition of creative pedagogy. It welcomes contributions from educators who specialize in studio-based teaching as well as those integrating creative approaches into more traditional academic settings.
At the network’s inaugural event, members will share how their creative practices influence their teaching methods and experiences as artists, educators, and learners. Speakers will draw from diverse fields such as music, dance, drama, arts education, and educational philosophy. This initial session will also introduce the project’s aims and invite attendees from the Faculty of Arts and Education, and from across the university, to join the network and participate in future events.
