AI 101 – Modules 2 & 3: Exploring Context and Practice in Learning and Teaching
In-person workshop to explore AI in teaching practice and apply hands-on strategies for learning and assessment.
This session builds on foundational knowledge of AI and focuses on how it intersects with teaching practice, disciplines, and students’ learning. Participants will explore real examples from our University’s academics, reflect on why engaging with AI matters now, and consider the knowledge and skills needed by teachers and learners.
The workshop then moves into hands-on activities, with opportunities to design AI-supported lesson plans and assessments, practise effective prompting, and address ethical considerations for responsible use.
By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:
- Explain how AI is being used in teaching practices at the University of Auckland
- Identify essential knowledge and skills for AI use in teaching and learning
- Reflect on key ethical considerations and responsible use
- Apply AI tools in lesson planning, content creation, and assessment design
- Develop prompting techniques to enhance teaching and engagement
This workshop complements Modules 2 & 3 of AI 101 in the TeachWell Professional Learning Series. Please review the AI 101 Canvas course materials before attending.
