AI 101 – Module 1: Introduction to AI
Join this beginner-friendly online workshop for educators new to artificial intelligence, and learn core concepts, practical applications, and hands-on skills with approved AI tools.
This beginner-friendly workshop introduces educators to generative AI, with no prior experience required. It covers core concepts, how AI works, and why it matters in education, alongside ethical issues such as bias and misinformation. Participants will practise prompting techniques and explore practical teaching applications through hands-on use of the University’s approved platforms: Microsoft Copilot, and Google Gemini and NotebookLM.
This live workshop complements AI 101: Module 1 – Introduction to Generative AI, the self-paced Canvas session for University of Auckland staff in the TeachWell Professional Learning Series.
This session will focus on:
- Core AI concepts and capabilities relevant to educators
- Prompting techniques through hands-on practice
- Ethical considerations, including bias and misinformation
- Practical applications of AI in teaching and learning
- Using the University’s approved AI tools
