May 2024 technology updates
In our technology updates we announce the latest developments in UoA supported tools for teaching and learning.
Technology updates are short and sweet this month with a new feature for Panopto plus a series of videos showing off Microsoft’s Copilot.
Panopto
Transcript download
We’re excited to announce a new feature that enhances accessibility for students and staff. A download button has been introduced to the video viewer and embedded player, allowing users to easily obtain a clean transcript of captions—free from any timestamps.
This option is available to all users who have viewing access.
For detailed instructions on how to use this new feature, please refer to the guide on how to download captions from the Panopto viewer.
Microsoft Copilot Gen-AI
To further support your explorations of Microsoft’s Copilot Gen-AI, we have added several short recordings from Karl McGuirk’s demonstration for making the most of the tool.
Topics covered:
- Writing descriptive prompts that Copilot can understand.
- Configuring the tool in Microsoft Edge sidebar.
- Nest practice tips for generating images.
- Leveraging the features of Copilot for teaching.
Recordings are available in Panopto. Read our ‘essential things to know’ article and follow the link to the recordings.
May these enhancements continue to empower you as teachers in your commitment to fostering collaboration and engagement with your students.
As always, should you have any questions or require assistance, seek support from IT Connect and Ranga Auaha Ako, Learning and Teaching Design Team. We’re here to help.
