Introduction to Canvas Baseline Practices
This session is ideal for teachers and teaching support staff looking to create more consistent, accessible, and inclusive course designs across their programmes.
Canvas Baseline Practices focuses on why course structure and consistency matter for student success. This session introduces the University’s shared expectations for a clear, accessible, and inclusive Canvas learning experience across programmes. By aligning with our Disability Action Plan, CBP also helps fulfil our responsibility to support disabled students and those with diverse access needs through inclusive course design.
During this session, staff will explore how Canvas Baseline Practices support student navigation, reduce cognitive load, and strengthen engagement, especially for students juggling multiple courses.
By the end of the session, you will understand the Canvas Baseline Practices framework and how to apply it to improve clarity, accessibility, and consistency in your courses.
