Business School Learning Technology Session

The Business School’s Innovative Learning & Teaching Team host regular Learning Technology Sessions throughout the year.

Leveraging Ed Discussion for Effective Course Communication

This session introduces Ed Discussion, an interactive platform designed to streamline communication between students and staff. Ed Discussion shares several features with Piazza, such as anonymous Q&A, private discussions, and the ability for instructors to endorse answers. It also allows for seamless collaboration on group projects, and the use of multimedia such as equations and runnable code, enhancing student engagement. Unlike Piazza, Ed Discussion offers staff-only comments, allowing for private instructor conversations within threads, and supports advanced data analytics for course improvement. Join us to explore how Ed Discussion can reduce email overload, encourage student participation, and offer real-time insights into course performance.

All University of Auckland staff are welcome to attend.

The purpose of our community is to allow Business School staff, who are interested in learning technologies, to meet on a regular basis to share, learn, encourage, and support each other in adopting and using technologies in courses across the Faculty. Seminars, conferences and events may be photographed or filmed for use by the University and the media in hard copy and electronic publications including in newsletters and brochures, on social media, and posted on the University or conference websites to promote subsequent events and the University. If you do not wish to be photographed or filmed, please inform the organiser or photographer. Please note all University of Auckland campuses are entirely smoke-free and we ask that all alumni, staff, students and guests comply with this.

Seminars and events may be photographed or filmed for educational purposes. Where a photograph or film/video footage featuring an individual is to be used for promotional materials the consent of the individual will be obtained. Consents will not be sought in other circumstances.
